Al-Butain

    The Little Belly

The seated authority, close enough now to be approached. A window that was not open a station ago.

    Favoured

    • The ask. A raise, a pitch, an appeal to someone with the power to rule in your favour.
    • Reconciliation, once the heat has gone out of it. Not a papered over peace, an actual resolution.
    • Research into what has been obscured, buried, or quietly filed away.
    • Planting anything that needs a long invisible season before it shows above ground.
    • The difficult email, the call you have been putting off, the request you have rehearsed too many times.

    Resisted

    • Agreements between equals. This current runs hierarchically and will not settle a partnership between peers.
    • Breaking ground on a build.
    • New attraction. You are not drawing anything toward you here.
    • Deepening a bond that is already easy. Nothing is wrong with it, the current is simply pointed elsewhere.

What the phase does to this station

Al-Butain is the station of the open window. How wide it opens depends on the light the Moon is carrying when she arrives.

    New Moon

Ask privately, before anyone is watching. A request made in the dark commits no one publicly and is easier to grant.

    Waxing

The strongest use. Make the case, send it, ask for the thing itself. The window and the current agree.

    Full Moon

The request becomes public. Good when you want witnesses to the answer. Difficult when a quiet yes would have served you better.

    Waning

Settle rather than seek. Close the old dispute, collect an answer already given, or withdraw a request that no longer serves you.

The station sets the direction. The phase sets how much force to apply.A good phase will not rescue a station that resists what you are doing.

    The current

Al-Butain takes its name from the tail of Aries, the smaller belly of the ram. Where the first station was all departure and forward force, the second carries something different. The same force is present, but it has passed through its initial burst and arrived at a first possibility of settlement. This is where the force of beginning meets the first opportunity to negotiate with what it has encountered.

The traditional image is a crowned king, seated rather than standing. That shift from the warrior of Al-Sharatain to the seated king tells you most of what changed between the first station and the second. The warrior is committed to motion. The king can receive a petition. He is not without force. He is still Aries, still capable of anger and decisive action. But he can be approached now. He can be spoken to.

This is a station of reconciliation in the truest sense of that word. Not false peace, and not the papering over of genuine conflict. The kind of resolution that becomes possible when the initial force of a situation has spent itself enough that the parties can hear each other at last. Al-Butain does not manufacture harmony where none exists. It opens a window that was not there a station ago.

    Born under this mansion

    The natal current of petition

Al-Butain gives a life pattern built around approach. Those born under it often learn how to ask, negotiate, reconcile, and bring hidden matters into view. Authority may play a strong role in their lives.

The gift is tact with power. They sense when a window has opened, how to approach someone difficult, how to find the buried point in a matter. The shadow is dependence on permission, and waiting too long for approval.
